Videos falsely claiming that celebrities are giving away their wealth are all over TikTok.
These videos are the top of the funnel of a sophisticated operation that draws out the naive and the desperate, directs them to WhatsApp or Telegram, and targets them with an advance fee scam.
This is a persistent threat for TikTok. Tens of thousands of users have responded to the call to action posted by scammers on 27 different videos reviewed by Indicator.
