Today we launched the Indicator Lab, a new membership tier that gives you powerful tools and expert guidance to run AI-assisted investigations.
This is the easiest way for you to get started with AI if you’ve been wondering how it can help you save time and multiply your findings. If you’re already using AI and want to take things further, we can help you work at the cutting edge. And if you work with sensitive data or don’t want to pay for third-party tools, everything in the Lab can run locally on your machine.

The Lab puts five tools at your command and combines them with workshops and office hours sessions with Tom Vaillant, the AI investigations expert we partnered with on this project.
The five Lab tools come packaged in a single installer to get you up and running quickly:
Spotlight puts investigative agents to work for you. Describe the task and it proposes a methodology and plan for you to approve. Nothing runs until you say so. It does the legwork and comes back with a case file where every claim is traced to a source.
Scoutpost is your monitoring engine. Tell it what you need to track — a webpage, a social profile, a local council agenda, a plane, a ship — and it alerts you when something changes, while archiving the evidence.
OSINT Navigator helps you find the right digital tool from a catalog of more than 13,000. Lab members get 200 searches a day, and your Spotlight agents can query it directly.
Splash turns reporting material into charts, maps, scrollytelling, and video, then deploys them as embeddable iframes.
Mycroft is a desktop interface that enables you to run all Lab tools locally on your machine.
Lab memberships include a monthly workshop with Tom, plus office hours every two weeks, and a Lab Notes newsletter. It’s tools plus hands-on guidance and expertise to ensure you get full value.
If you already have a subscription to an AI platform, you can instantly connect Spotlight, Scoutpost, and Navigator. Or run them locally with an open model so nothing leaves your machine.
As investigators ourselves, we know there are limits to what AI can and should do. These tools are built to support skilled human investigators, not replace their judgment.
The Lab is an add-on to an Indicator membership, so you need both:
An Indicator Pro membership ($12.95/month or $125/year)
The Lab add-on ($10/month).
The Lab is billed monthly only for now, and you can cancel anytime. A Pro membership includes everything we publish, including our investigations and OSINT guides, and our monthly members-only workshop.
