Dan Greenberg is the president and lead investigator of Greenberg Corporate Intelligence.
Any investigator who works in corporate due diligence, OSINT, or business intelligence has probably read 100 articles about AI by now. Much of the discussion has focused on automating the labor-intensive due diligence research process, which would in theory shake up a large industry. What’s often missing is clear and practical advice from actual practitioners who aren’t pushing a product or agenda.
I've worked in due diligence and investigative research at business intelligence consultancies for over 15 years. I currently lead a boutique firm in DC with eight investigators. I'm passionate about delivering high-quality diligence research that clients can rely on when making important decisions.
We all know that AI has potentially beneficial applications as well as severe drawbacks. I’ll get to its faults. For now, let’s concentrate on how, specifically, to use AI for investigative due diligence. Here’s how our team is using it and where we’re seeing value. (Note: mentions of specific tools shouldn’t be interpreted as endorsements. I’m just sharing what we use. I encourage you to test and validate tools for yourself.)
