CrowdTangle is dead, Tweetdeck is behind a paywall, and major social platforms are generally making it more difficult to monitor, search, and analyze content and accounts.

If you’ve got the budget, there are several powerful social media monitoring and analysis tools. At Indicator, we focus on free and low cost options that can serve a wide range of investigators. That leaves a much smaller pool of tools.

This post looks at three affordable, and in some cases partially free, tools for monitoring and analyzing social media accounts and content. Some of the tools offer discounted access or credits for journalists and other public interest researchers.

Disclaimer: I was provided complimentary access to the the three tools highlighted in this post. I do not have a financial relationship with any of the companies.
